Responsibilities
- Prepares therapeutic desserts and salads as required
- Serves meals in the health center pantries
- Sets up tables in the health center dining room(s) and breaks them down after the meals
- Transports hot and cold foods to and from the health center pantries
- Transports all required non-food items to and from the health center pantries
- Washes silver, glass, china in dish machines in pantries as per regulation
- Provides health center snacks and supplements per diet orders
- Maintains stock and sanitation levels in coffee and juice machines in dining rooms
- Sets tables and maintains work stations in proper order
- Takes order, provides service and requested items both graciously and courteously
- Clears dishes from tables during and after meal service
- Answers pertinent questions about menu items
- Ensures that orders match Physician’s diet orders
Qualifications
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, perform simple arithmetic, and understand measurements and conversions.
- Previous experience in nursing home food service preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize and set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders and interpret specifications and standards.
- Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor and peers. Requires empathy for the eldery.
Must-Haves for Role
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Food Handlers Certification (within 60 days of hire)
- Reliable transportation
