Essential Functions
· Manages the clinical department with a major focus on improving the business aspects of health care operations and the quality of the health care provided.
· Ensures the regular training of personnel, so they develop the knowledge and skills needed to perform their jobs and encourages individual employee development so that future needs of the group are adequately met.
· Oversee clinical nursing care, ensuring compliance with established regulations and standards including quality assurance, confidentiality, and medical record documentation.
· Provides direct supervision to nurses and subordinate staff, ensuring appropriate assessment and treatment of patient health.
· Serves as key problem-solving resource for staff on patient issues.
· Studies patient needs/trends, analyzes patient flow problems, and suggests solutions to patient care problems.
· Compiles/analyzes data on patient outcomes, quality assurance results, budget/goal achievement, and performance/productivity and prepares reports for administration.
· Works with each department lead to accurately monitor all clinical logs for accuracy and completion.
· Ensure the clinical department is staffed appropriately.
· Knowledge of EMR for auditing, error correction, training and reporting.
· Knowledge of medical terminology.
· Responsible for assuring accurate and timely entries of pertinent medical information on all patients.
· Stays current with state, federal, and payer regulations/requirements and updates professional standards for nursing for the medical practice appropriately.
· Develops, maintains, implements and communicates nursing policies and procedures to staff that conform to current standards of nursing practice and organizational philosophy.
· Ensures that nursing aspects related to risk management, reimbursement, financial management, and other administrative functions are incorporated into operational systems.
· Monitors outcomes, budget results, patient satisfaction surveys and other indicators of nursing performance.
· Maintains high quality of care by nursing staff through continuous improvement of standards and protocols.
· Collaborates with physicians, medical professionals, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of nursing services and resolve identified problems.
· Ensures all staff are trained in quality assurance/control requirements and meet these standards.
· Identifies and implements opportunities to build employee morale and individual motivation.
· Schedule and conduct periodic staff meetings with the employees to inform the staff of changes in practice policy and to resolve problems that are hindering operating effectiveness. Prepare an agenda for the staff meetings.
· Ordering and inventory of medical supplies, medications and vaccinations.
Leadership
· Assists with establishing and implementing policies, objectives, and procedures for the clinic. Reports on results and outcomes.
· Participates in staff human resources planning and decisions, including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluating personnel and their work.
· Responsible for scheduling vacations, PTO, sick and emergency leave in accordance with practice policy.
· Responsible for rectifying all personnel problems as they relate to office efficiency and effectiveness.
· Works with leadership to ensure the performance and productivity of all nursing staff are evaluated at 90 days, annually, and periodically throughout the year. Advises on appropriate corrective actions and professional development opportunities.
· Reviews and approves time records for practice employees.
Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification
- Proficiency in EMR and EHR systems
- Strong patient care and assessment skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and physiology
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations
