What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant position at Autumn Road Family Practice?
Department: Laboratory
Reports to: Laboratory Manager
Summary: Acts as the primary phlebotomist for the clinical laboratory, gives instruction for the collection of various other specimen samples, keeps area stocked, assist the laboratory in other duties as needed. All duties are for the purpose of assisting the physicians with the diagnosis/treatment of the clinic’s patients.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
ASCP Certification preferred, but not required.
Work Experience:
At least 1 year of experience working as a Phlebotomist.
Technical Competency: Above average comprehension of English language and grammar skills. Computer literate with good, basic math skills.
Team Oriented and Interpersonal Skills: Works effectively with others to achieve performance goals. Excellent interpersonal skills.
Leadership: Strong personal accountability.
Initiative: Proactive in achieving requirements of the job and goals of the clinic as well as self- motivated to improve processes and performance.
Credibility/Accountability: Takes responsibility for mistakes, respects confidentiality, and completes commitments on time.
Communications: Presents information clearly and concisely both written and orally. Listens well and asks questions. Can interface effectively with patients, visitors, outside agencies, and other members of the clinic.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
Other: Basic skills with of Microsoft Word/Excel helpful, and specifically lab software and equipment.
