Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurse's Aide to join our healthcare team. As a vital member of our nursing staff, you will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including a Level I Trauma Center, medical-surgical units, and inpatient care. Your role will involve assisting with daily living activities, ensuring patient comfort, and contributing to the overall quality of care in our teaching hospital environment. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about geriatrics, hospital medicine, and emergency medicine.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff.
- Provide support in the operating room (OR) during surgical procedures as needed.
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Engage with patients through compassionate communication and emotional support.
- Assist in the transportation of patients within the facility.
- Participate in patient care planning and collaborate with healthcare team members.
- Support pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) staff by providing necessary assistance during patient care.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Nurse's Aide training program preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous, particularly in medical-surgical or emergency medicine environments.
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and practices is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations typical of trauma centers and teaching hospitals.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks associated with patient care, including lifting and transferring patients safely.
- Certification as a Nurse's Aide or similar credential is preferred but not mandatory.
