What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Analyst - Power Markets position at AVA Energy?
AVA Energy is partnered with an established player in the Energy space as they search for a candidate to join their Market Modeling team. The successful candidate will have experience with power market fundamentals in the context of North American markets.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing activities across power market fundamentals, commercial analytics and production cost modeling.
- Responsible for electricity market modeling and price forecasts across North America.
- Conduct thorough analysis of model outputs to ensure process quality.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the impact of Energy Policy & Regulatory Affairs.
- Ability to leverage the results of the fundamental price forecast and succinctly present these findings to internal and external stakeholders, to guide strategic and commercial decisions.
Qualifications:
- Excellent understanding of power market fundamentals with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in production cost modeling (e.g., PLEXOS, PROMOD, Aurora, EnCompass etc.) is required.
- Strong understanding of market trends in conventional generation, renewables, energy storage, distributed generation, and transmission development.
- Programming, database and software skills (VBA, Python, Excel, SQL).
- Bachelor's degree in an analytical/numerical subject - Engineering, Mathematics, Economics etc. - Master's degree is preferred.
- Proven ability to perform in high visibility, high growth environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
