Systems Engineer | Full-Time

Description

The Systems Engineer is responsible for building and delivering a stable, secure, and efficient systems environment. This environment may include physical, virtual, or cloud-based system solutions and applications. Systems should be engineered to support current operations and support future growth of Avadian. Other duties may include break/fix events, projects, cross-training, or other technical functions to support business operations.

This position is remote and will be subject to state approval. Approved states: Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Vermont, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, Texas, New Mexico.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure, including cloud services, VMware environments, and Microsoft 365.
• Manage and optimize virtualized environments using VMware.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
• Ensure the security and integrity of systems by implementing best practices and security measures.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Monitor system capacity and report to management trends and timelines to support future business needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy new solutions.
• Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Basic Requirements:

• Must have the ability to explain complex technical concepts to users with varying levels of technical knowledge and work collaboratively with users to identify root causes of system issues.
• Must effectively collaborate with IT colleagues on projects, share knowledge, and delegate tasks appropriately.
• Develop positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to facilitate smooth collaboration.
• Strong technical skills and knowledge of networking concepts and protocols.
• Effective communication and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience: Five to eight years of similar or related experience. Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python). Knowledge of firewall and VPN technologies.

Education: BA/BS degree in computer science, management information systems, or equivalent demonstrated work experience required. Certifications will be considered in lieu of a BA/BS degree or work experience. Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or similar.
