As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems and components to meet project specifications and performance goals. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions that align with our company’s standards and objectives.
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, this position is based in Houston, TX.

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in lighting products design and development. Understanding of the ISO9001 quality system a plus, as well as National Electrical Code’s (NEC) Hazardous Locations.
- Skills: Thorough understanding of SolidWorks CAD software, including Finite Element Analysis. Understanding of manufacturing techniques such as: sheet metal fabrication process, bending, finishing, welding, stamped and die cast parts. Understanding of thermodynamics and thermal test methods. Understanding of electrical design parameters related to luminaire design (Lumen output, LED, driver, dimming, etc.). AutoCAD/Inventor usage with above skills details will be considered.
- Design multiple new lighting products simultaneously from concept to production, including following through with internal and external resources to complete project details.
- Use SolidWorks CAD and AutoCAD software for mechanical design.
- Work with purchasing and vendors to define requirements and obtain needed parts.
- Work with certification agencies (NRTL) to test and certify the new products according to specifications.
- Set up Bills of Materials for the new products and maintain current products using ERP system.
- Mechanical and electrical design modifications to existing product designs.
- Mechanical, electrical, thermal, and optical validation of new designs using both software simulation (FEA) and prototype testing.
- Work with sales and customer service to provide timely responses to product inquiries.
- Work with people across the organization, including production, sales, customer service, factory operations, purchasing, marketing, etc. to achieve goals as needed.
