You're the ideal candidate for our Duty Manager position if you have experience working at a commercial airport, specifically in airport operations. As the Duty Manager, you will act as a liaison between the airlines, airport, government agencies, contractors, vendors, and suppliers. In addition, you'll coordinate with airlines, vendors, and contractors to ensure that each airline receives the appropriate level of service.
Scheduling flexibility is critical - you must be available to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Duty Manager will be responsible for operating and maintenance functions at ONT, including but not limited to:
- Respond to, mitigate and report emergencies as necessary such as: o Gating and conflict resolution at the gates with Airline Managers o Facilities maintenance breakdowns and project facilities upgrades coordination and management o Major system outages, IT, Baggage Handling System (BHS), check point closures, etc.
- Administer policies, practices, and programs necessary to ensure a safe and efficient environment; administer Equipment Incident Report Program
- Issue daily reports to the General Manager and the airline clients
- Oversee operational performance of aeronautical equipment, systems, and services
- Coordinate resolution of issues with airport terminal operations when necessary
- Conduct inspections of aeronautical equipment, facilities, and services to facilitate continuous improvement and minimize equipment downtimes
- Monitor BHS Control Rooms and advise General Manager on BHS management, check bag room for ground handler equipment after hours and report to authorities.
- Oversee the testing of all aeronautical equipment and prepare contingency plans and procedure.
- Oversee the commissioning of any new aeronautical equipment and coordinate and assist in the turnover and acceptance process.
- Maintain quality control standards for performance, reliability, serviceability, and safety.
- Verify Contractor invoices as directed.
- Prepare daily reports to outline all pertinent activities, service or maintenance issues.
- Review daily service & equipment logs and ensure proper resolution of issues.
- Be prepared to take on other duties assigned by the General Manager.
Qualifications
- 3 years of excellent customer service and communication skills within an airport environment
- 3 years of monitoring, responding, reporting difficult problems and quickly resolving them safely to ensure the most satisfying passengers’ experience
- Detail oriented in the inspection of all vendors’ performance and able to identify unsafe work practices and environments
- Ability to produce concise daily status reports of all terminal activities
- Skilled at identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Ability to amicably interact with an irritated stakeholder (airlines, vendors, airport community) and diffuse the situation leaving the stakeholder confident that the issue (even if it is out of your scope) will be resolved to the stakeholder's satisfaction
- Maintenance experience of Terminal Facilities is a plus
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Must be able to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays
