Summary

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department. Assists in administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resources function. Assists with the coordination, implementation of services, policies, and programs and assists and advises department managers about Human Resources issues; guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ø Generating official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, salary adjustments and warning letters.

Ø Assists with creating onboarding plans and educating newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures and regulations.

Ø Maintaining physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits and attendance records.

Ø Assists with evaluating employee performance and appraising their pay scale accordingly.

Ø Taking appropriate disciplinary action against employees who violate rules and regulations and addressing employee grievances.

Ø Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures company’s compliance.

Ø Maintains knowledge for company compliance with federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to all personnel matters.

Ø Assists executive director in the annual review, preparation, and administration of the company’s wage and salary program.

Ø Assists with the development and maintains the implementation of AVALA’s Orientation program.

Ø Assists department managers on all staffing needs beginning with the staffing requisition to selecting and hiring a prospective candidate.

Ø Works directly with department managers to coach and/or assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters to resolve conflicts in a manner that is best for AVALA, and the individuals involved.

Ø Assists with addressing complaints and problems timely and effectively, keeps all parties informed of the status of any required actions, encourages employees to report problems or concerns and recommends outcomes that are viewed as fair and even-handed.

Ø Recommends, evaluates, and participates in staff development for the company.

Ø Assists with overseeing employee benefit program by directing the administration of the group health insurance and life insurance plans, flexible spending and dependent care programs, 401k plan, and FMLA.

Ø Maintains personnel records of all employees.

Ø Maintains pertinent records to Human Resources programs.

Ø Answers general HR questions from staff and management.

Ø Generates and formulates all necessary and requested reports.

Ø Processes all new hires and assist with benefits enrollment.

Ø Processes all terminations and conducts Exit Interviews.

Ø Participates in projects and seeks additional responsibilities.

Ø Reconciles all insurance invoices on a monthly basis.

Ø Assigns education courses upon onboarding and annually. Experience with HealthStream preferred.

Ø Schedules BLS classes for the facility and communicates upcoming classes to employees.

Ø Processes Scrub orders for the facility.

Ø Processes Verifications of Employment.

Ø Ensures that all new hire candidates have begun the process of background checks and urine drug screen testing.

Ø Other duties as assigned.

Ø Attends scheduled meetings or reads staff meeting minutes.

Ø Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.

Ø Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Ø Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

Ø Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital.

Ø Promotes professional growth of subordinates by sharing knowledge and/or directing them to sources if information appropriate to given situation.

Ø Assists other staff members in performing any duty that enhances the delivery of patient care.


Regulatory Requirements

Ø Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.

Ø One or more years general Human Resources experience.

Ø PHR, aPHR, or SHRM-CP preferred.

Skills

Ø Netchex experience preferred.

Ø Attention to details.

Ø Communication skill, oral, listening and written.

Ø Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.

Ø COBRA administration.

Ø EEOC laws and guidelines.

Ø Organizing, planning, and execution skills

Ø Ability to analyze.

Ø Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Ø Basic computer knowledge.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires repetitive motions, standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
