Patriots Village State Veterans Home is seeking a Security Guard.
Summary/Objective:
Responsible for keeping the facility safe and problem-free. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. •
Security:
- Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence.
- Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people in the property.
- Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the area.
- Secure all exits, doors and windows after end of operations.
- Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts.
- Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions.
- Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation.
- Provide assistance to people in need.
- Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before arrival of authorities.
- Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences.
Customer Service:
- Provide compassionate resident care services.
- Establish and maintain positive interactions with internal and external customers, including co-workers.
- Promptly respond to call lights.
Resident’s Rights:
- Knows Resident Rights. Helps the residents/residents exercise and/or protect their rights.
- Reports resident/resident complaints to management.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident/resident information.
- Understand, comply with and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents’ rights.
- Support resident autonomy and choice. o Promote a restraint-free environment.
HIPAA:
- Follows and adheres to Facility’s policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information.
- Uses and/or discloses only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks.
- Reports all suspected violation of company’s HIPAA policies or procedures to Facility Privacy Designee.
Continuing Education:
- Participate in facility/department in-services and quality improvement activities.
- Attend continuing education programs.
- Attend facility/department/staff meetings as required.
Safety:
- Knows and follows all Company policies, regulations and requirements.
- Demonstrate safe practices in regard to resident's comfort and safety by applying knowledge of proper body alignment for self and resident.
- Practice and promote adherence to institutional safety codes.
- Follows facility dress and hygiene policies.
- Demonstrates proper use of equipment. Reports equipment needs or repairs.
- Follows facility smoking policies.
- Reports and documents any incidents or accidents of residents, staff or visitors to the appropriate facility personnel.
- Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to Supervisor.
- Performs duties, which may include transportation of residents, as assigned in Facility Disaster Plan.
- Uses required protective equipment.
- Follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.

Other Responsibilities
- Must adhere to Code of Conduct and Business Ethics policy, including documentation and reporting responsibilities.
- Participate in Quality Improvement activities as assigned.
- Ability to understand and apply training from in-service education and ability to instruct personnel during training education and staff meetings.
- This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
- This is a position in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Rotating shifts as well as holidays and working during inclement weather may be required.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a fast-paced nursing home environment. Also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
