CIH is a dedicated non-profit hospital serving our community with compassionate and high-quality care. Our Human Resources team plays a vital role in supporting our staff, ensuring compliance with policies, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to provide administrative and functional support to our HR department. The ideal candidate will assist with various HR processes, employee documentation, and serve as a point of contact for HR-related inquiries.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with administrative tasks, including preparing correspondence, updating spreadsheets, and processing employee paperwork.
  • Maintain and organize personnel files and general HR filing systems.
  • Support the employee hiring process by helping schedule interviews, communicate with candidates, and coordinate pre-employment screenings.
  • Assemble and process new hire paperwork, ensuring proper distribution to relevant departments.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Assist with compliance tracking, such as verifying employee credentials, monitoring required trainings, and preparing HR reports as needed.
  • Payroll & Timekeeping Support: Assist in verifying timecards, tracking paid time off (PTO), and ensuring payroll documentation is processed correctly.
  • Event & Recognition Program Support: Help plan and coordinate employee events, wellness initiatives, and recognition programs to promote employee engagement.
  • Answer general HR-related questions regarding policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Other Administrative Duties: Provide general administrative support such as scheduling meetings, ordering office supplies, and assisting with special HR projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with HR policies, procedures, and employment regulations is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 to 2 years of related HR experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
