Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Support kitchen staff by assisting with basic food preparation tasks, such as slicing bread, portioning condiments, or garnishing dishes, to expedite service and maintain quality standards.
- Engage with guests in a friendly and attentive manner, providing assistance with menu selections, answering questions about dishes, and accommodating special requests to enhance the overall dining experience.
- Assist with beverage service by refilling water glasses, delivering non-alcoholic beverages to tables, and assisting bartenders with preparing and serving drinks, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Provide tableside assistance to guests, including refilling condiments, replacing utensils, and addressing any additional needs or requests promptly and courteously.
- Support restaurant staff during special events or private dining functions by assisting with set-up, service, and cleanup tasks, ensuring that guest needs are met and exceeded.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the dining area, including wiping down tables, chairs, and countertops, and promptly clearing away used dishes and utensils to ensure a clean and inviting environment for guests.
- Monitor and replenish supplies at service stations, including condiments, napkins, and utensils, to ensure smooth and efficient service during peak dining hours.
- Assist restaurant management with administrative tasks, such as updating reservation lists, printing menus, or organizing seating arrangements, to support efficient operations.
- Handle guest feedback and inquiries professionally and promptly, addressing any concerns or complaints with a positive attitude and seeking resolution to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Actively participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in food and beverage service, hospitality standards, and guest relations.
- A key requirement for this role is punctuality, including showing up on time for scheduled shifts, ready to work, and adhering to all rest and meal break standards as well as the company's attendance policy.
Qualifications and Education:
- Must have and maintain a valid Riverside County Food Handler's card and Responsible Beverage Server certification.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a restaurant, café, or hotel environment, demonstrating a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service procedures, including basic food preparation techniques, table service etiquette, and sanitation standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with guests and colleagues in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively to meet guest needs and operational requirements.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work variable shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by the needs of the restaurant and its guests.

Through the years, Ingleside served as a Palm Springs escape for A-list names including Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, and Elizabeth Taylor, with a legacy that's still felt in its serene, hedge-lined grounds. A relaxed elegance is palpable throughout the 30 Spanish Revival rooms and suites, and on the lush lawn with pool and hot tub. The iconic dining experience of Melvyn’s restaurant and lounge completes this picturesque setting to play and escape it all.
