RN Unit Manager Duties & Responsibilities :
Assist the DON and ADON to evaluate, and direct day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the FacilityEnsure that all nursing services personnel are following their respective job descriptionsReview complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnel and ensure appropriate reports are made and sent directly to the Director of Nursing ServicesUtilize expertise in the leadership role as a manager of an assigned unitCollaborate with the Director of Nursing in maintaining adequate nursing coverage to provide safe nursing care for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; effectively utilizes existing manpower limiting use of overtime and agency personnelImplement the process of progressive counseling and when necessary, recommends or initiates disciplinary action based on facility's and or nursing policies and proceduresProvides professional guidance and supervision to both professional and nonprofessional unit staffAttend committee meetings as requestedAssumes nursing responsibilities of facility for weekend and holiday coverage as requestedParticipates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality assurance activities for the facility and / or unit as requestedDemonstrates, teaches, and evaluates nursing skills utilized in direct resident care of the unit's specific resident populationAssumes responsibility for the MDS's completion on the unitProvides consultation in developing and implementing discharge plans in collaboration with the resident, family, and interdisciplinary teamPrepares written reports, reviews records, and participates in needed date collection as indicatedSubmits requests for the budgetParticipates in staff recruitment (assists in the interviewing and selection of nursing personnelEnsures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.RN Unit Manager Qualifications & Requirements :
