MGA Operations Specialist
Avalon Risk Management (“Avalon”) is a specialty insurance broker with offices throughout the U.S. and Canada. We focus on the unique and exciting world of risk management and insurance products for the international trade and logistics industry. Avalon is a privately held company owned by our founding management team. We are looking for a support specialist to assist our Underwriting and Centralized Bond Unit departments. This full-time exempt position will work from our headquarters in Schaumburg, IL.
We are looking for a team player who has an eye for detail and is highly organized. Having excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 2 years professional office support experience, preferably that involved accounting or financial-based responsibilities; or an equivalent educational background. Strong follow-up skills are essential, along with the ability to consistently meet deadlines. Intermediate computer skills are required, especially with MS Word and Excel.
Our Specialists will assist with collateral intake and maintenance, renewal notices, set up and maintenance of underwriting files, reporting, and special projects. This collaborative team thrives with colleagues who are passionate about following detailed instructions while being comfortable speaking up about improvements and asking questions.
Some of the responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Assist with submission intake and review of completion using Zendesk platform for Underwriting Teams
- Assist with pre-underwriting and set up of files including, but not limited to, running entry activity reports, running financial statements, claims reports, and conducting principal research, etc.
- Prepare various reports generated by multiple internal software tools as well as Tableau, Excel, Access, and Word.
- Monitor collateral and claims reports for application of collateral to open claims.
- Handle and oversee collateral intake and assist with collateral management, as well as maintain accurate collateral files and records.
- Enter applications and data into Avalon’s records.
- Assist with Bond filings and upkeep of bond records using multiple platforms
- Handle and/or assist with renewal notice generation and review within established timeframes.
- Work on special projects as assigned by manager (e.g. collateral reviews, audits, aggregations, etc.)
- General clerical duties associated with the department and this position’s duties: filing, faxing, scanning, sending follow ups, plus other administrative tasks.
Avalon is a premier provider of innovative insurance and surety solutions. This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting base compensation range of $43,000 - $46,000 per year.
