Shipping Coordinator

Job Summary:  The logistics shipping coordinator is responsible for scheduling all company owned tractor trailer loads, single driver loads and contract haulers to ensure the timely shipping of product in the yard.   This position will require the individual to match customer needs with the production schedule, shipping capacity, and efficient route scheduling.  In doing so the individual will be expected to identify process improvements to drive efficiency. 

Key Responsibilities:  All of the following responsibilities are required to perform this job. 

• Schedule tractor trailer loads and Single Loads
• Coordinate single pickup loads with driver and shipping department
• Coordinator tractor trailer loads with contract haulers and shipping department
• Works cross-functionally to maintain an adequate Shipping Schedule
• Continuously improves procedures and practices to enhance company performance.
• Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
• Maintain accurate record keeping regarding scheduling and coordinating activities
• Keeping schedules and organizing team members.
• Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand processes that are multi-step; variable dependent and completed in stages
• Demonstrated ability to interact across multiple departments required
• The candidate must possess strong organization, communication and people skills
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, trouble shoot and interface with both vendors and customers is essential
• Knowledge of logistics methods required
• Previous logistics experience preferred
• Strong customer service skills – international customer service experience preferred
• Require intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Experience with ERP (Epicor) and ELD (Samsara) preferred
• Analytical thinking skills
• Ability to work well with others
• Complex problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail

Physical Requirements:  In order to complete a job successfully, certain physical requirements are needed within challenging work related environments.  For this job the following is required:

• Must be physically capable of safely lifting a maximum of 40 lbs. without assistance
• Involves standing or sitting for long periods as required
• Involves extensive walking and exposure to all weather conditions
• Includes exposure to noise levels that are distracting and/or uncomfortable
• Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Requires ability to hear and respond to radio communications
