We are currently looking for experienced Nurse Practitioners to join our dynamic team and help provide exceptional care in a supportive, team-based environment.
Position Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will play a vital role in the intake, evaluation, and medical detox management of patients undergoing substance use disorder treatment. Working in close partnership with an experienced Addiction Medicine Specialist physician, the NP will manage withdrawal symptoms, monitor patient progress, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. This role requires a strong clinical background in addiction medicine, the ability to perform thorough assessments, and the knowledge to manage the detox process across a range of substances including opioids, benzodiazepines, alcohol, marijuana, and others.
This position is part-time, with home call responsibilities for 3-4 days per week and in-house work for 2 half-days per week dedicated to performing intake evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake evaluations for new patients entering medical detox and residential treatment programs during in-house shifts.
- Manage and monitor medical detox protocols and withdrawal symptoms for various substances including opioids, alcohol, benzodiazepines, and marijuana.
- Collaborate with the Addiction Medicine Specialist physician and other members of the healthcare team to create and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Provide ongoing care and symptom management for patients throughout the detoxification process in both acute detox and residential settings.
- Order medications and therapies in a safe and effective manner, adjusting dosages as necessary to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Monitor patients for potential complications related to detox, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Offer education and support to patients and their families regarding withdrawal, detoxification, and addiction recovery processes.
- Maintain thorough and accurate patient records, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Ensure that all care and practices are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as best practice standards in addiction medicine.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to the overall treatment strategy for each patient.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing, with certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of Kansas.
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Kansas.
- At least 3 years of experience in a clinical setting, with a focus on addiction medicine or substance use disorders.
- Experience with medical detox and withdrawal symptom management for various substances including opioids, alcohol, and benzodiazepines.
- Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacology, including the use of medications for managing withdrawal and supporting detox.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, with the ability to engage and support individuals in recovery.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information
