Associate Attorney – Civil Defense Practice

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our Civil Defense Litigation team . The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of experience in handling civil defense matters, including personal injury, insurance defense, premises liability, and professional malpractice. This role involves litigation support, client representation, legal research, and trial preparation .
Key Responsibilities
Case Management : Handle a caseload of civil defense litigation matters from inception to resolution.
Legal Research & Writing : Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal memoranda.
Depositions & Discovery : Conduct depositions, respond to discovery, and analyze evidence.
Court Representation : Appear in court for hearings, motions, and trials under senior attorney supervision.
Client Interaction : Advise clients on legal strategies, case developments, and risk assessments.
Settlement Negotiations : Work with opposing counsel, insurance carriers, and clients to negotiate settlements.
Compliance & Risk Management : Ensure clients adhere to regulatory requirements and risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- 1-5 years of civil defense litigation experience.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Experience in depositions, motion practice, and case analysis.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple cases.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience (Not Required, But a Plus!)
Insurance defense, personal injury defense, medical malpractice, or employment law experience.
Trial preparation and courtroom experience.
Familiarity with case management software and e-discovery tools.
