We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Delivery Lead with a strong background in mainframe architecture and DB2 database management. The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end delivery of mainframe solutions, ensuring that applications and database systems are aligned with business goals and meet performance, reliability, and scalability standards. This role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, architects, developers, and infrastructure teams, while providing strategic insights into mainframe modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Delivery:
Lead the delivery of mainframe projects from inception to deployment, ensuring timely completion within budget and high quality.
Coordinate cross-functional teams, setting priorities, and managing resources effectively to support ongoing mainframe operations and projects.
Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring clear communication and setting realistic expectations.
Mainframe Architecture:
Develop, design, and implement mainframe architecture solutions that are scalable, reliable, and optimized for performance.
Establish architectural standards and ensure adherence to best practices in mainframe design and development.
Participate in strategic planning for mainframe systems and provide recommendations for system improvements and modernization.
DB2 Database Management:
Oversee DB2 database administration, optimization, and performance tuning for mainframe applications.
Ensure data security, integrity, and reliability, implementing appropriate backup, recovery, and archiving strategies.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex DB2-related issues, collaborating with technical teams to ensure database health and availability.
Solution Design and Optimization:
Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to design, implement, and optimize mainframe applications and data processes.
Identify and resolve bottlenecks in application performance, database queries, and overall mainframe operations.
Work closely with application teams to understand data requirements and optimize data structures in DB2.
Mainframe Modernization and Transformation:
Lead initiatives related to mainframe modernization, including integrating legacy systems with cloud or hybrid environments.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies to enhance mainframe operations.
Develop roadmaps for transforming mainframe architecture and databases to meet current and future business needs.
Documentation and Compliance:
Create and maintain documentation on architecture, DB2 databases, system configurations, and operational procedures.
Ensure all mainframe systems and databases comply with regulatory, security, and data governance standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
8 years of experience in mainframe systems, including architecture and DB2 database management.
Proven experience managing end-to-end delivery of large-scale mainframe projects.
In-depth knowledge of DB2 on mainframes, including experience in database tuning, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
Strong expertise in mainframe architecture, including experience with IBM zSeries, COBOL, JCL, and CICS.
Familiarity with mainframe modernization approaches, such as API integration, cloud compatibility, or hybrid solutions.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex technical challenges.
Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Certifications:
IBM Certified Database Administrator - DB2
ITIL Foundation Certification
PMP or other Project Management certification
