Job Overview
Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the ongoing maintenance of high-quality Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms and overall facilities
Job Responsibilities
Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and positive learning environment
Identify areas in need of maintenance and repair and respond to those needs promptly and effectively.
Perform basic maintenance tasks and effectively utilize resources to accomplish them.
Cleans all facilities over which s/he has primary responsibility, including regular cleaning of exposed spaces, bathrooms, and floors.
Completes regular maintenance, cleaning and minor repairs at centers and main office upon request.
Ensures regular maintenance and upkeep of outdoor environments, including lawns, landscaped beds, playgrounds, outdoor structures and parking lots.
Perform routine inspections of outdoor areas to ensure areas are free of safety hazards, trash, weeds and other debris.
Perform routine inspections of site interiors for safety hazards.
Ensure agency machinery and equipment is maintained and stored in a secure location.
Other Duties
Assists in remodeling, refurbishing and repairing of office spaces, classrooms, and storage units which may include minor carpentry, painting, sanding and refinishing of furniture, fixtures and equipment.
Assists in moving office furniture, fixtures and equipment within and between sites to support staffing changes, relocations, remodels and program expansion.
Transport and distribute food and other materials to Early Head Start sites as needed.
Complete work requisitions in a timely manner as directed by the Director of Operations.
Participate in assigned meetings, professional development, and training as required.
Performs any and all other duties (or functions) as assigned.

Required:

Preferred:
- High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
Required
- Four to five years’ experience in general repair, carpentry, facilities maintenance, assembly, plumbing, electrical, painting, etc.
- Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
- Travel required locally or long-distance up to 50% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Travel
- Ability to travel to various sites: Dependable transportation is required daily with a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record (subject to annual MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) check and policy), current auto liability insurance and be bondable by AVANCE, Inc.
- Travel required up to 50% of the time for work-related site visits, meetings, and functions.

Working Conditions
- Work is generally performed in an office environment.
- Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: business office with computers and printers, light to moderate traffic, human voices).
- May be required to operate a motor vehicle during the course of duties.
Mental and Physical Demands
Maintain emotional control under stress; work with interruptions and deadlines; walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; occasional: lifting/carrying, pulling/pushing up to 75 pounds.
