Job Overview
This position supports outreach and recruitment efforts for program participation in collaboration with direct staff. It assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing multi-component education and prevention programs, including parental engagement and related support services for parents and children, in alignment with AVANCE's mission and policies. Additionally, this role is responsible for teaching parents and caretakers enrolled in the AVANCE Parent-Child Education Program how to create educational toys using the AVANCE Toy-making Manual, following AVANCE’s Parenting Curriculum.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with Parent Representatives and Facilitators to plan, deliver, and facilitate educational and prevention workshops, as well as support groups for children, youth, and adults. Additionally, the role supports program coordination by working closely with the Coordinator of Parental Engagement, Parent Facilitators, and on-site volunteers, while building relationships with partner agencies, local governments, school districts, and community stakeholders.
This position focuses on assessing the needs of parents and children within school districts, conducting focus groups to develop high-quality services, and preparing materials for Parent Rooms on designated ISD campuses. The role also includes organizing, managing, and participating in parent and volunteer recruitment efforts. It ensures participant files and data are maintained in compliance with State and Federal guidelines, including the proper handling of registrations, sign-in sheets, and attendance records. Additionally, the position provides participants with information, referrals, and consultations as needed, while fostering effective communication with AVANCE staff and collaborators to support cross-program services. Responsibilities also include participating in staff selection, training, and evaluation, as well as preparing and submitting reports in a timely manner.
This position includes conducting home visits as needed and attending trainings, school meetings, and staff meetings. Responsibilities also involve assisting with budget documentation, soliciting community support and volunteer engagement, and assessing the needs of parents and children to inform program recommendations. Ensuring compliance with monthly record-keeping for statistical reporting is critical, along with implementing effective systems for data collection, reporting, and analysis. The role emphasizes building positive relationships with stakeholders, delivering culturally sensitive customer service, and actively promoting AVANCE's mission.
In addition to these duties, the role includes preparing for toy-making lessons by creating handouts, purchasing supplies, and managing inventory records. Tasks also involve sewing, cutting, and preparing toy materials, maintaining an exhibit sample of AVANCE toys, and conducting toy-making sessions that reinforce AVANCE Possibility Sheets. This position requires maintaining sign-in sheets for all sessions and may regularly involve working evenings and weekends regularly. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Education
Required:
- Associate degree in Education, Social Work, Business Administration or related field.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Business Administration or related field.
Work Experience
Required:
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a classroom teaching children and working with adult groups.
Preferred:
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with families and children in a school or group setting and knowledge of the Performance Standards and Texas Licensing Standards.
Additional Skills Required
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office software applications with advanced skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Spanish fluency required.
