Nurse Manager (Trainer)

At Avancer Homes LLC our Registered Nurse provides nursing services and the health care needs of the people we serve in a Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA.) as well as our Day Training Center. Our RN works within the agency’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal and local administrative rules and regulations, as well as accreditation standards concerning the health care needs of the agency’s clients.
Requirements:
Illinois License as a Registered Professional Nurse
No disqualifying criminal history
Two years minimum of clinical, registered professional nursing experience within the field of Intellectual Disabilities
Certified Nurse Trainer for Medication Administration through the Illinois Department of Human Services.
Complete HRST training
Complete current pharmacy training
Ability to become a certified CPR trainer
Completion of continuing education hours as required for your nursing license.
Valid Illinois driver’s license preferred and ability to maintain a good driving record
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. In accordance with DHS Rule 116, monitor ordered prescribed medications, supplies and equipment as
needed. Ensure supplies and medications are kept in good condition in an organized fashion. Ensure
delivery of medications to the homes at the beginning of each medication cycle and as refills come in.
2. Maintain the established administration procedures of controlled medication as recommended in rule 116.
3. Conduct any in-services regarding all medication changes.
4. Complete quality assurance reviews of medication administration records at least quarterly.
5. Be knowledgeable of medical appointments and labs.
6. Annually complete nursing packet that includes the Nursing Assessment and the Self Administration
Medication Assessment (SAMA).
7. During business hours or adjusted business hours provide on-call consultation with ADSPs regarding
medication concerns for the persons served at Avancer Homes LLC.
8. Be available outside of working hours via the agency provided cell phone – for emergency questions only.
9. Implement and follow-up on doctor’s orders in collaboration with Clinical Director, QIDP’s Residential
Managers and ADSPs.
10. Give injections as ordered by physician.
11. Maintain professional working relationship with health care providers and agencies.
12. Contribute to the Community Support Team (CST) process. This is also known as the Inter-Disciplinary
Team (IDT)
13. Review health related work comp paperwork for clarification with human resource and business office
departments.
14. Coordinate hospital discharges from a medical stand-point.
15. Participate in screenings of possible new admissions to provide a medical perspective.
16. Participate in and complete required reports for Health and Safety Committee, Human Rights Committee,
and the Behavior and Psychiatric Committee. Complete requested reports for OIG investigations.
17. Serve as a member of the training team that instructs the initial eight-hour medication administration class
with all eligible Direct Support Personnel. After the new ADSP passes the initial class, provide completion
of OJT/CBTAs prior to the new ADSP independently administering medications.
18. Serve as a member of the training team that instructs the annual medication administration class for
existing ADSP’s.
19. Serve as a member of the training team that instructs ADSPs, DSPs, and drivers on CPR and first aid.
20. Assist in developing, implementing, and coordinating departmental policies, procedures, and manuals.
Review and make recommendations annually.
21. Be knowledgeable and thoroughly adhere to and implement all policies and procedures.
22. Attend all in-services, training sessions, and department meetings as required.
23. Ensure the rights and confidentiality of the persons served are protected at all times.
24. Participate in evacuation and emergency response procedures to ensure the safety of the Individuals
served.
25. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with department personnel.
26. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.
