Job Summary
The Program Manager for External Funding and Grants will play an important role in developing and implementing externally funded high-profile projects that will enable a reliable, affordable, and just energy transition. Your primary responsibilities will include (1) strategically secure and manage external funding for Networks projects, ensuring alignment with Avangrid´s objectives and fostering beneficial partnerships with funding sources. (2) to develop comprehensive project plans that meet Grantor’s requirements, coordinating with various managers and technical personnel, and ensuring resource availability and allocation. You will manage project dependencies and critical paths, develop, and manage project budgets, and provide detailed reports to support decision-making. You will also be responsible for (3) developing and maintaining compliance processes and procedures to ensure all legal and contractual requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and engage in funding opportunities, including federal programs and local/state initiatives and collaborate with Corporate teams to identify funding opportunities and align proposals with company objectives.
- Stay informed about industry trends, policies, and funding landscapes to guide decision-making. Build and maintain relationships with potential funding sources, including government agencies (e.g. DOE, National Labs) and funding institutions.
- Develop comprehensive project plans for the portfolio that ensure achievement of all project goals agreed with Federal government, State government, and/or another Grantor, and coordinate various managers and technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation.
- Coordinate with all areas involved to ensure engagement and execution of the activities. Schedule committees and meetings and follow up agreements and commitments. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path, ensuring resource availability and allocation.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that projects are delivered within financial constraints. Provide reports on the execution to support decision-making.
- Identify potential risks and facilitate the development of mitigation strategies to manage project risks.
- Provide regular updates on project portfolio status, risks, and issues. Develop tools and metrics to better communicate status and metrics to stakeholders.
- Track project and portfolio performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals. Identify causes and support management to act.
- Manage the implementation and day-to-day operation of compliance procedures to ensure all contractual and legal requirements are met.
- Support data gathering and development of requests and responses related to the projects under the portfolio.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, business, finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management roles.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in energy industry.
- Experience in preparing and approving business plans and projects, with a broad understanding on their economics, financing, and technical aspects.
- Have managed relevant infrastructure projects (more than $50 million).
- Strong knowledge of project management and practices related to utility business.
- Experience with budget management and financial reporting.
- Ability to develop and track project performance metrics.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and persistence, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, to advocate effectively and work independently.
- Experience in risk management and developing mitigation strategies.
- Strong organizational skills to manage schedules, meetings, and follow-ups.
- Ability to prepare informative and visually creative presentations and reports, e.g., incorporating statistics, graphics, and charts.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
- Master’s degree in business or engineering.
