AVANTech is seeking a dynamic, experienced project manager whose primary assignment will be to support an exciting new design fabrication project. The role will require some travel but will be based out of our Richland, Washington office. The Project Manager will have the unique opportunity to be in on the ground floor of the project and will participate in building their own highly skilled project team.

Who You Are:
The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for execution and delivery of assigned project scope on time, within budget, and with a focus on contract management. Working closelywith the Engineering and Fabrication Departments the PM will be responsible for tracking and managing all stages of the project(s) assigned (i.e., research and development, proposal development, design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning).
The primary focus for the Project Manager will be to work closely with the client to deliver on the contract scope and manage contract change. In doing so the project manager will also assist in the generation of proposals, support design fabrication, testing and commissioning of systems used to treat liquid and solid waste and other streams, primarily in the nuclear industry.
A Day in the Life for a Project Manager:
- Effectively manage customer expectations and contract requirement
- Create proposal costing worksheets (Project & Change Order cost estimates).
- Develop and maintain project management matrices to effectively manage deliverables
- Collaborate with department managers from planning phase all the way through delivery acting as liaison between team members, vendors, and customers to ensure deliverables, requirements, schedules, cost, and meeting plans are communicated.
- Utilize Project Management tools to plan and communicate project timelines, tasks, milestones, and deadlines to customers and management.
- Help develop work packages for distribution to the production floor for fabrication and support active fabrication projects through completion.
- Monitor task completion status to identify at-risk project tasks and accordingly advocate for the allocation of resources to the project.
Requirements and preferences are as follows:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as a project manager, and a bachelor’s degree in a technical field
- Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work and adapt through schedule and scope changes in a high output environment.
- Innovative with strong analytical problem solving and concept design skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and able to work independently and within a team.
- Be an advocate for safety in all phases of the project and adopt and promote the AVANTech safety culture
Nice to Have qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree
- Experience in the Nuclear industry or other complex arena with stringent quality standards
- Demonstrated experience in design fabrication or design build contracts
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate contract change and out of scope items
