Job Description
Avantor is seeking a Manager, Maintenance and Reliability to provide leadership and direction to the Maintenance & Reliability team.
The Manager will oversee operating performance, all plant maintenance of equipment including mechanical, electrical, and instruments and controls, monitor operating and outage reports and ensure performance targets are met. They also establish and administer operational goals.
This role will be a full-time position based out of our Phillipsburg, NJ office. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of applicable experience in maintenance or equipment repair; preferably in a manufacturing or chemical industry.
- Experience managing Union staff, administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements, and other elements of labor relations.
- In-depth knowledge of industry and regulatory standards.
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis, utilizing process improvement methods (Continuous Improvement), maintenance management systems and OSHA PSM.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements to include cGMPs, EPA, OSHA, DEA, DOT, and any other applicable local, governmental, and company guidelines.
- Excellent organization and project management skills.
- Proven ability to manage and multi-task with multiple projects to timely completion.
- Knowledge of chemical manufacturing and plant support systems.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the repair and maintenance of the site's infrastructure, including manufacturing, utilities, distribution, and wastewater treatment.
Establish key performance metrics, drive productivity, and continuous improvement, and maintain maintenance equipment records and reports.
Establish and maintain preventive maintenance best practices.
Support the execution of Process Safety Management systems to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
Manage all contracts for the maintenance and repairs of the facility, including creating scopes of work, obtaining bids, and ensuring work is completed on time and meets objectives.
Ensure all department personnel and contractors are trained, qualified, and maintain necessary certifications.
Monitor expenses and control the site maintenance budget.
Ensure critical spare parts are identified and available.
Assist with the scope, installation, and startup of capital projects.
Direct supervisors in establishing and maintaining maintenance schedules within established procedures and budgets.
Manage the site's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Use data to maximize long-term cost of ownership.
Manage Union staff, administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and other elements of labor relations as needed.
Participate on multi-functional project teams as required.
