Description & Requirements
We are seeking a Public Relations (PR) and Corporate Marketing intern, who is full of creative ideas and eager to contribute to a broad range of media relations and marketing projects and initiatives. The intern will gain visibility into the inner workings and aspects of the public relations and marketing fields, provide concrete deliverables, and learn from a diverse set of colleagues.
In this role, you will be working closely with the PR, Marketing, and Government Relations (GR) teams and also be working closely with staff from other departments. Please note this position is hybrid requiring the intern to reside within commutable distance of our McLean, Virginia Headquarters office.
To be a successful PR and Marketing intern, applicants should enjoy working on projects requiring creativity and outside of the box thinking and be a confident public speaker and independent worker with strong writing, research, and communications skills. Ultimately, an outstanding PR and Marketing intern should be able to help us look for ways to tell our company's narrative and maintain and boost Maximus’ corporate reputation.
Additionally, the selected intern will gain knowledge of general business principles, corporate organizational structure and government process improvement. Throughout the summer, you will have the opportunity to meet, interact, and collaborate among various project teams, consultants, senior management, executives and peers. Guidance and training on operations standards and protocols will be provided by the Manager.
BENEFITS / COMPENSATION :
Hourly pay range is competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Interns are eligible for benefits. All computer equipment and access to digital systems will be provided to the hired candidate. Students may also complete the internship for academic credit, subject to the qualifications of their academic program.
PROGRAM DETAILS :
This position requires a commitment of 40 full-time hours per week, with availability during usual business hours (8AM-6PM ET), for the duration of a 10-week summer program : starting Tuesday, May 27th and ending Friday, August 8th, 2025.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Organize the development and creation of content for press releases, social media platforms, newsletters, website and / or other communication channels.
- Assist with the research and drafting of reports, presentation materials, and other documents.
- Provide assistance with the scheduling and organizing of events and drafting communications materials.
- Communicate routine information in a clear and accurate way with internal & external contacts.
- Help brainstorm and create engaging content for external communications channels.
- Monitor and provide summaries of media coverage on events and issues vital to Maximus.
- Assist with PR impact reports and monitor coverage of Maximus news announcements.
- Support public relations, digital marketing, and marketing operations projects.
- Research, test, and report on operational tools to enhance team productivity across the broad tech stack (Salesforce, Highspot, HubSpot, AEM, and more).
- Collect and analyze data across CRM, digital marketing, and sales enablement platforms.
- Perform competitive market analysis to identify areas of opportunity.

Pay Transparency :
