Position Overview:
We are seeking a Contracted Hospital Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to provide expert oversight and leadership in pharmaceutical services. This position works closely with the Pharmacy Director of Onsite Services, as well as the hospital's Administrator/CEO, to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and applicable accreditation standards. The PIC will play a vital role in overseeing medication-related policies, procedures, and providing leadership for the hospital's pharmacy department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and organize daily pharmacy operations, managing pharmacy technicians and nurses as needed to maintain accurate records, licenses, permits, and meeting attendance.
- Serve on various committees including Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Infection Control, and Medical Staff Committees.
- Establish and review departmental goals for continuous quality improvement (CQI) on a quarterly basis.
- Physically work in the hospital at a frequency determined by the contract and regulatory requirements to address urgent tasks.
- Develop, implement, and annually review departmental policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding pharmaceutical issues, drug information, and in-services.
- Monitor patient profiles for drug interactions, allergies, dosage adjustments, and provide counseling to patients on proper medication usage.
- Oversee the work of pharmacy technicians, maintain medication inventory, and ensure compliance with controlled substance regulations.
- Maintain a customer-service-focused relationship with hospital leadership, pharmacy, and nursing staff.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- Experience: Hospital experience or completion of an ASHP-accredited Residency preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Must hold appropriate licensure for practice in states served. Additional state pharmacist licenses may be required based on job assignment.
- Other: Valid driver’s license and eligibility for Avel eCare automobile liability insurance.

Physical Requirements:
