Corporate Infection Prevention-Employee Health - Wound Program Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

This individual is responsible for oversight, reporting and coordination of infection control and prevention related activities at the facility level from the corporate office. This individual will also be responsible for the functions of the employee health program at the hospital level and for providing clinical employee health services at the corporate office level. The incumbent will serve as the Wound Program Manager and is responsible for the successful implementation, ongoing management and overall success of the Wound Care services. This includes responsibility for operations, quality management, and assisting with facility wound care education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Infection Prevention:

  • Evaluates compliance for practices that are associated with the prevention and control of health care associated infections.
  • Educates employees/providers about Infection Prevention and the development of health system policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection prevention standards that meet OSHA, OSDH, CMS and CDC requirements.
  • Interacts with physicians, nurses, department managers, supervisors, and occupational health and other professional/non-professional staff members to provide resource information, resolve infection control problems, and identify new opportunities to improve.
  • Directs and assists the hospital IP/EH RNs in preparing reports and statistical data for the infection control committees, medical staff committees, and the facility's administration and management as needed and reports back to the clinical operations team.
  • Acts as a liaison between the facilities and the corporate office. Is responsible for the surveillance, analysis and reporting of hospital associated infections.
  • Perform medical record and chart audits as needed to fulfill job requirements.
  • Will be required to assist in IP/EH Quality Surveillance development within the electronic health record.
  • Will be required to report from the EMR and support staff in Quality Surveillance efforts within the electronic medical record.

Employee Health

  • Maintains complete and accurate employee health record for the corporate office staff. Reviews the facility employee health records for accuracy and completeness and reports back to the clinical operations team.
  • Participates as an integral team member, collaborating with various departments and colleagues, including Human Resources, Quality and others as needed to advocate for employee health and safety.
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of all employee health initiatives and programs.
  • Will provide oversight for pre-employment testing and vaccination processes, annual TB/ Influenza testing and/or vaccinations, and blood and body fluid exposures, employee illnesses and disease outbreaks.
  • Responsible for keeping current in nursing trends and knowledge. Participates in In-service programs as required.
  • Identify work-related risks.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide care if needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and patient information.
  • Provide oversight and compliance verification for OSHA reporting and Workers Compensation claims if needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
  • Perform medical record and chart audits as needed to fulfill job requirements.
  • Will be required to assist in IP/EH Employee Health development within the electronic medical record.
  • Will be required to report from and support staff in Employee Health efforts within the electronic health record.
  • Work with Radiology Managers at the facilities to verify collection of and evaluation of radiation safety measures.

Wound Program:

  • Researches and identifies relevant industry standards.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures and accreditation standards.
  • Implements strategies to improve wound care service functions.
  • Cooperates with other departments and shares resources appropriately.
  • Work with appropriate Hospital and/or facility personnel to ensure adequate space, equipment, supplies, and services for wound care.
  • Access and analyze existing data; submit reports as requested to management.
  • Make recommendations and take action as appropriate to ensure continued success of wound care.
  • Assure wound care compliance with all applicable regulatory and governmental agencies including conducting and documenting educational in-services/competencies when necessary.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings to ensure open communication and enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Regularly review patient documentation and charges entered to support accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure that appropriate clinical staff adhere to and participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

  • Act as a preceptor/mentor as requested.
  • Demonstrate excellent work attendance and attend and actively participate in a variety of meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Adhere to the Avem Health Partners Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior. Complies with established policies and procedures and all health and safety requirements.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program, BSN preferred.
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Skilled in using MS Word and Excel. Comfortable learning new applications to include the enterprise Electronic Medical Record, ActionCue, WoundRounds.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

  • Current RN license issued by the State of Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
  • Certified in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
  • Current BLS (or obtained within 30 day of hire).
