The State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) is responsible for providing direct care to residents, assisting the clinical nursing team in providing activities of daily living for the residents and works under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This person works in accordance with facility policies and procedures and report resident needs and concerns to a licensed nurse. Direct report to a nursing supervisor, and Director of Nursing.
STNA RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES:
- Timely and accurately document all resident related activities in accordance with facility policy.
- Ensure timely notification of resident related information, including changes in resident condition (example: weight loss, skin condition changes), to a licensed nurse for further direction.
- Successfully assist all responsible residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s), including but not limited to feeding, bathing, dressing, transferring, ambulation, loco motion, personal hygiene, toileting.
- Obtain labs/vitals as directed by licensed nurse.
- Observe infection control and safety procedures.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled staff meetings, educational meetings/in-services and all other meetings related to employment.
- Assist with and participate in all resident activities to facilitate a home like environment for the residents within assigned facility.
- Ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
- Respectfully engage and welcome all visitors, guests and family members within the facility.
- Ensure a safe and sanitary living environment for residents.
- Ensure the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process is followed in accordance to State & Federal Guidelines.
- Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times.
- Adhere to all facility policies & procedures.
- Perform other related duties as directed by Director of Nursing and/or person of authority.
Education And Experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification - OH required.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Ability to read/write/comprehend the English language in written & verbal form required.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and non-verbally required.
Successfully complete and/or comply with all required background checks to include but not limited to:
- Ohio BCI&I fingerprint analysis, FBI (if applicable) fingerprint analysis
- Nurse Aide Registry
- HHS/OIG list of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)
- Ohio Medicaid Provider Exclusion and Suspension List.
CPR certification preferred.
