Director of Information Technology

The Director of Information Technology will contribute advanced knowledge and skills in technology to support corporate technology objectives. This role works closely with the Vice President of Information Technology and interacts with vendors, owners, executive teams, and staff. The Director of IT is responsible for assisting the corporate office and management with technology planning, decision-making, implementation, and maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Technology/Asset Life-Cycle: Ensure necessary equipment (PCs, servers, telecom, etc.) is ordered and available.
  • System Performance: Identify, foresee, and resolve system performance issues.
  • Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Accountable for disaster recovery and business continuity related to technology.
  • Security & Maintenance: Ensure technology assets are secure and well-maintained in accordance with policies and standards.
  • Telecommunications: Install, monitor, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including cabling, and provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Asset Management: Perform adds, moves, changes, and deletions.
  • Bandwidth & Circuits: Ensure adequate bandwidth and secure circuits.
  • End-User Support: Support end-user pager and cellular phone issues.
  • Internet Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot high-speed internet access problems.
  • Software & Hardware Management: Image desktops, install new software applications, apply patches, and map drives to the correct server/network.
  • PC/Peripheral Management: Move, add, change PCs/peripherals, and migrate data when necessary.
  • Backup Operations: Perform routine to complex desktop backups as scheduled or directed.
  • End-User Support: Provide support to staff.
  • Security Passwords: Resolve issues with setup or reset of security passwords.
  • Server Management: Create and maintain a secure server environment, perform server backups, and conduct routine/non-routine preventative maintenance.
  • Disaster Recovery Plans: Execute disaster recovery plans.
  • Budget Assistance: Assist and provide input to management for CAPEX and department operating budgets based on anticipated IT projects and support/needs requirements.
  • Financial Understanding: Possess a basic understanding of the financial dynamics of operations and apply knowledge/judgment to assist management in achieving technology-related goals.
  • Investment Advising: Advise management on required short-term technology investments for planning.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct periodic inventories of applications and hardware; prepare reports for management.
  • Vendor Management: Manage and recruit professional staff, as well as third-party support teams through contractual services.
  • Vendor Selection: Assist in the review of vendor proposals to determine appropriate vendor selection for local technologies/hardware.
  • Vendor Contract Compliance: Ensure compliance with technology-related vendor contracts.
  • Proposal Writing & Presentation: Write/present proposals, analyses, project plans, cost models, etc., in a well-written and/or verbally articulate manner.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Status Reporting: Provide timely, accurate, and detailed status reports as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business administration.
  • Master’s degree with a specialization in Information Technology Management (preferred).
  • 5-7 years of leadership experience managing and/or directing an IT operation.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Customer service-focused.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
  • Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems.
  • Good understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities.
  • Experience with systems design and development, from business requirements analysis through day-to-day management.
  • Familiar with more than one software development methodology.
  • Proven experience in IT planning, organization, and development.
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles.
  • Superior understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to 10 pounds independently and 20 pounds with assistance.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and a champion of change for improvements and efficiencies via a commitment to quality results.
  • Proven time management skills.
