The Community Initiatives Program Manager oversees Avenue's neighborhood-based community development activities, including resident leadership and engagement, advocacy trainings, health equity, and the implementation of comprehensive community plans.
Community Initiatives advances Avenue's mission of investing in people, homes, and communities by increasing the knowledge and skills of residents, and by fostering partnerships and leveraging resources to accomplish community improvement goals created in collaboration with neighborhood residents.

The role is located in Houston, Texas, and we are a hybrid organization with the option to work remotely on Mondays & Fridays. The position requires frequent evening meetings and occasional weekend events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Partnership Development and Management
QUALIFICATIONS
- S. Degree/GED
- College Degree Preferred
- 2-5 years in community development or community organizing experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Project management experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Data management tracking and management experience
- Prior financial responsibility and experience creating and managing budgets
- Exceptional and diplomatic communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experience working diverse populations
- High integrity
- Strong emotional intelligence
- Strong desire to serve the community
- Creative problem solver
- Acute critical thinking skills
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
Supervisory and Management Duties
- Supervise 2-3 employees
- Supervise interns, if any
