The VP of Programs & Operations advances Avenue's mission of investing in people, homes, and communities by overseeing programs that promote and preserve homeownership, increase the knowledge and skills of residents, and accomplish community goals established by neighborhood residents. This position provides leadership for the creation of program strategies and the oversight of program delivery and evaluation.
This position also has primary responsibility for organization-wide operational planning, coordination, and reporting.
The VP of Programs & Operations helps to nurture a strong organizational culture by promoting collaboration and teamwork.

The role is located in Houston, Texas, and we are a hybrid organization with the option to work remotely on Mondays & Fridays. The position requires occasional evening meetings and weekend events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Organizational leadership as member of Avenue's Senior Leadership Team
- Program Leadership of Homeownership, Resident Services, and Community Initiatives
- Program operational excellence
- Program evaluation
- Support for and coordination with Fund Development and Communications and Finance Departments
- Agencywide planning and coordination
QUALIFICATIONS
- College Degree Required, Masters Degree Preferred
- A minimum of five to eight years of experience in program and/or organizational management in director-level positions and higher, in the non-profit sector; relevant experience in an affordable housing/community development organization a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic
- Ability to balance, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external
- High level of knowledge and understanding in program management and evaluation, operations, technology, and grants
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in operational excellence strategies, setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
- Prior financial responsibility and experience preparing and managing program budgets
- Proven effectiveness leading
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to Avenue's mission and
- Flexible and a self-starter; able to multitask while also being highly detail-
