Avenue Consultants is growing our Reno office! We are seeking a Transportation Design Team Lead that will support and direct local roadway projects from concept through final design, supporting our clients throughout Nevada. We are looking for a self-starter with a detailed understanding of transportation engineering of rural and urban roadways. Job Duties
Team Leadership: Lead a team of engineers; providing guidance, mentoring, support, and professional development opportunities. Fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
Recruiting: Actively participate in the hiring process for new team members, ensuring the selection of qualified and motivated individuals who align with our culture and values.
Business Development: Procure new contracts and clients by identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
Project Management: Oversee and manage transportation engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Regulatory Compliance: Help ensure all projects comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
Client Engagement: Serve as a point of contact for clients, addressing their needs and ensuring their satisfaction with our services.
Technical Expertise: Provide technical knowledge and guidance on road drainage design and ancillary road design elements including signage, striping, traffic signals, lighting, ITS, and utilities. In addition, being an Engineer of Record for your own work as well as work completed under your direction.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic planning and growth of the new Nevada Office, setting and achieving long-term goals.- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required
- Professional Engineering license (PE) with the state of Nevada required
- 8 years of relevant professional experience in transportation engineering preferred
- 2 years in management or leadership role preferred
- Strong written communications skills
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
- An understanding of national design standards and NDOT's standards
- Experiences delivering projects with local municipalities
- Detail oriented and self-starter; can work independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to learn, provide feedback, and receive feedback
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Workfront, MicroStation, ProjectWise, InRoads, and OpenRoads preferred
- Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing
