Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic results. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate specimen collection with phlebotomy staff and perform venous or capillary blood collection on inpatients, outpatients, or outreach clients.
- Instruct patients/clients on proper pre-analytical specimen collection, handling, and storage guidelines for various body fluids.
- Operate all aspects of the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to include test orders, result reporting, Q.C. documentation, etc.
- Perform a variety of manual test procedures according to standard operating procedure.
Education and Certification
- Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT), or equivalent.
Work Environment
The Medical Laboratory Technician will work in a fast-paced laboratory setting, interacting with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
