Medical Laboratory Technician Role Overview
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) plays a vital role in ensuring quality and accuracy in clinical laboratory testing. This position requires a relevant degree and certification, with responsibilities including specimen collection, test result analysis, and communication with healthcare providers.
Main Responsibilities:
- Performing a variety of clinical laboratory tests and procedures, including but not limited to supply inventory, quality control, calibration, reagent preparation, etc.
- Initiating and following through with corrective action, utilizing MLS and/or supervisory assistance as necessary; prioritizing and managing effective workflow.
- Accurately performing basic to complex clinical laboratory testing following established procedure, protocol, techniques and/or manufacturer guidelines.
- Communicating laboratory data and pertinent technical information to appropriate departments, healthcare providers, and individuals in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Critiquing, correlating and differentiating results of testing utilizing theoretical knowledge, critical thinking, and independent judgment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Transcript showing Medical Laboratory Scientist degree or Medical Technologist degree.
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) within 1 Year or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLS) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 1 Year.
- Ability to work rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays, with the ability to perform job duties while working in a team environment and adhering to safety regulations.
