Job Title: Radiology Technologist Assistant
Avera is seeking a PRN Radiology Technologist Assistant to join our team at the Avera Milbank Area Hospital.
About the Role
- Provide clerical and receptionist services, utilizing multiple computer programs for the Imaging Department.
- Support technologists by assisting with radiographic exams and documentation, transporting patients, preparing for radiologist visits, and stocking work areas.
Responsibilities
- Perform clerical/reception duties, including answering phones, operating paging systems, assisting physicians and radiologists, greeting arriving patients, filing, and processing requisitions/orders.
- Organize and maintain files, records, and logs. Deliver and retrieve films from storage.
- Observe patients while technologists leave the immediate area for short periods. Assist clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds or chairs, wheelchairs, or stretchers.
- Assist with medical records reconciliation of signed orders to performed exams.
- Contact patients prior to scheduled appointments to provide exam information and answer questions.
- Pre-authorize scheduled patient exams and assist with staff/student on-the-job training and orientation.
- Follow procedures for creating and dispatching CDs/copies to appropriate parties.
- Assist technologists in fluoroscopic, diagnostic, nuclear medicine, and other satellite areas of radiology.
Qualifications
- Some College enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and preparation to be verified and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
