Job Description:
The Sleep Laboratory Technologist at Avera Health is responsible for evaluating and treating sleep disorders through polysomnography and patient care. They collect and analyze patient information, explain procedures, perform sleep studies, and maintain equipment while working within a multidisciplinary team.
This role requires certification as a Registered Polysomnographer Technologist and encompasses both patient interaction and technical expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Collects, analyzes, and integrates patient information to identify patient-specific needs and determine final testing parameters.
- Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
- Explains pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to patients.
- Performs sleep studies, including CPAP and BiPAP titration, and applies electrodes and sensors according to published standards.
