Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician-in-Training assists in drug preparation, storage, distribution, and inventory management within a variety of pharmacy environments. This entry-level position participates in and completes Avera Health’s Pharmacy Technician Education Program within 12 months of hire in order to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Upon completion of the education program and successful Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination, the technician-in-training will be promoted into the role of Certified Pharmacy Technician. Avera Health’s Pharmacy Technician Education Program consists of 400 hours of combined didactic, simulation, and experiential learning activities. Avera Health requires a two-year employment commitment upon completion of the Pharmacy Technician Education Program.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Unrestricted registration with the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy required within 30 days of employment.
- Become certified by National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), National Healthcareer Association (EXCPT) or other approved pharmacy certification program within 2 years upon hire.
Work Schedule
- Varied shifts as needed; PRN
Pay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
- $18.00 - $24.50 per hour
