Job Profile Summary: The Dietetic Assistant is responsible to coordinate the daily operations of the diet office along with ensuring compliance of dietary restrictions during meal service. This position also assists the department in the clerical aspects of patient meal service through monitoring diet orders and supplements.
What you will do
- Ensures accuracy of meal trays during tray line meal service.
- Problem solves issues with diet orders, supplements, patient concerns and patient requests.
- Replaces and reassigns staff assignments as needed to maintain efficient operations within the department.
- Demonstrates knowledge of food production, nutrition and therapeutic diets.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the CBORD software system as well as the electronic medical record.
- Maintains accurate patient database in CBORD.
- Assists with inventory control of supplements and tube feeding formulas.

A Brief Overview
Provides nutritional care to assigned patient under the supervision of a registered, licensed dietitian. Is responsible for the screening and identifying patient at nutritional risk, evaluating patients at low or moderate nutritional risk and assist with patient menu modifications.
What you will do
- Performs nutrition screening in a timely manner and refers high risk patients to dietitians.
- Performs an accurate nutrition evaluation in a timely manner for low and moderate risk patients including, but not limited to: obtaining information in terms of the patient’s nutritional needs and as appropriate refers patients to dietitians.
- Develops and implements an individualized outcomes based nutritional care plan for assigned patients specific to patient needs with clearly defined, measurable goals.
- Evaluates patient’s responses to nutritional care. Revises care plan and goals as necessary to achieve desired outcomes. Consults with dietitians as needed and/or refers patients to dietitians as appropriate.
- Demonstrates ability to provide nutrition education to assigned patients/family based on evaluation of needs.
- Documents patient’s responses to nutritional care in the EMR, in a complete and concise manner.
- Maintains accurate patient database in CBORD.
- Accurately calculates intake for patients on calorie counts as assigned. Documents intake in medical record in a timely manner.
- Assist patients with menu choices as needed.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Associate's or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Certified Dietary Manager - Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals
- ServSafe Certificate - National Restaurant Association
