A Brief Overview
Provides organizational leadership utilizing the framework of the operational plan, financial objectives, and performance improvement goals defined by Avera. Partners with other members of the Senior Management Team and Avera's resources, Advisory Board and community partners.
What you will do
- Assists in assurance that professional and clinical standards of care are met and regulatory compliance is maintained.
- Ensures compliance with policies/procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control and government regulations.
- Directs the preparation of operating and capital budgets for assigned departments and ensures compliance through consistent monitoring. Demonstrates an awareness of fiscal constraints and works to identify ways to use resources effectively and efficiently.
- Works in cooperation with other leadership team members on operational issues, assists in operational planning and budgeting, establishment of strategic and operational goals, facilitates open communication with the facility, encourages team work, fosters a commitment and understanding of the Avera's mission, vision, values and social principles, fosters relationship building and uses system thinking.
- Provides communication to employees in assigned departments regarding facility issues in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Demonstrates support of the facility leadership and projects in a positive attitude regarding decisions made at the administrative level.
- Supports and practices quality customer service and seeks way to enhance services to patients.
- Maintains a system for evaluation of patient care that will provide for feedback to assigned departments and serve as the basis for future planning. Maintains current knowledge base of clinical concepts, reimbursement issues, and regulations applicable to hospital operations.
- Consults with the leadership in solving operational problems and designs methods and procedures to improve the efficiency, productivity, and control of department operations. Responsible for customer relations to include resolution of patient complaints, proactive communication with medical staff, identification and referral of risk management concerns, and initiation of appropriate follow-up.
- Schedules and participates in (re)-certifications in-services and training as required to insure staff retain patient care competencies in assigned departments. Directs, coordinates, and serves on various internal and external committees as requested.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential Qualifications
The individual must be able to work the hours specified. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire
- 1-3 years management experience
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- 4-6 years progressive responsible acute-care experience
