Our customer in Elkhart is looking for multiple Manufacturing Engineers but one specifically with a Weld Engineering focus. Should have the ability to weld, will design tools and fixtures for clamping, troubleshoot problems, MIG and TIG, comfortable with process improvement, understand sources of heat, have a floor presence and be out with the team, and basically be the first call for anything weld related. This will not necessarily be a welder, but an Engineer that can weld and be the lead in that department :
- Act as the point of contact for all weld processes and production support (MIG, TIG, Robotics)
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to continuously improve the welding processes in safety, quality, delivery and cost
- Support all welding applications and provide technical expertise
- Identify, evaluate, and implement new weld technology, equipment and processes
- Define, document, and control weld process and procedures
- Train, coach, and mentor cross-functional teams for consistent weld processing
- Design, build, test, and implement production tooling where necessary
- Assist cross-functional teams for new model launch
- Assist in the day-to-day resolution of weld problems arising on the production floor
