Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Systems and Security Operations Manager who will be responsible for leading both strategic and hands-on aspects of IT infrastructure and security. This role oversees cloud-based systems, enterprise tools, and the broader security posture while managing a high-performing team of technical professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a working manager, spending approximately 70% of time on hands-on technical and security operations and 30% on team leadership
• Manage a team of 4–10 direct reports including senior engineers, systems admins, and service desk staff
• Lead and evolve the organization’s Information Security Program with matrixed reporting to the CIO/CISO
• Conduct internal audits and ongoing security assessments aligned with NIST standards
• Monitor network traffic and firewall performance, and manage security reporting
• Oversee a newly implemented Cisco infrastructure and lead integration of emerging technologies such as Abnormal Security
• Manage and enhance cloud infrastructure (100% cloud, no on-prem servers), with responsibilities across Azure and AWS environments
• Drive monthly sprints in an agile environment; lead 1:1s, performance reviews, and coaching conversations
• Oversee infrastructure including cloud servers, VMs, firewalls, WANs, routers, switches, and email/VOIP systems
• Guide and support cross-functional collaboration with system administrators, analysts, and developers to optimize infrastructure and cybersecurity
• Evaluate and integrate SaaS and IaaS solutions; ensure endpoint and enterprise hardware/software integrity
• Maintain and document ITIL 4-aligned standard operating procedures
• Manage vendor relationships, license renewals, and IT purchasing within defined budgets
• Be available after hours for urgent issues or key project rollouts

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent industry certifications)
• 7 years of overall Information Technology experience
• 5 years of Systems/Network Administration experience
• 3 years of experience managing or leading IT teams
• Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365, Teams, Cisco technologies, and security platforms including Okta
• Experience with security frameworks (especially NIST) and audit/compliance initiatives
• Strong foundation in networking and enterprise cloud environments
• Excellent communication skills with ability to relay complex information to non-technical stakeholders
• Knowledge of ITIL 4, ITSM, agile methodologies, and sprint-based planning
