The Fire Protection Engineer is responsible for reviewing and evaluating facilities and equipment to determine appropriate fire protection requirements. This role primarily supports projects in Power Plants, Oil & Gas Processing Facilities, Water Treatment Plants, and Data Centers.

Primary Purpose
The Fire Protection Engineer is responsible for reviewing and evaluating facilities and equipment to determine appropriate fire protection requirements. This role primarily supports projects in Power Plants, Oil & Gas Processing Facilities, Water Treatment Plants, and Data Centers.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Interpret and apply state and local codes and standards (e.g., IBC, IFC, NFPA).
- Proactively manage and communicate fire protection requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct code and hazard analysis reviews and generate detailed fire protection specifications.
- Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and perform hydraulic calculations.
- Review sprinkler and alarm system drawings and calculations for accuracy and code compliance.
- Communicate with city and local officials, including applying for variances when needed.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures, policies, and safety standards.
- Independently apply engineering knowledge while maintaining a culture of quality and safety.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program in the USA.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in fire protection engineering.
- Licensing: Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and actively pursuing or already holding a Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
- PE license in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with fire protection systems in Power Plants, Oil & Gas Processing Facilities, Water Treatment Facilities, or Data Centers.
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and handle conflicts effectively.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles, codes, and industry standards.
- Understanding of construction, constructability practices, procurement, and contract administration.
