DIRECTOR

Staff Relationship: The Growing Place Director will be responsible to The Growing Place Supervisor and will work closely with The Growing Place Committee. The TGP director will be involved in the formulation of policies and in making reports to the church.

Job Requirements:

- Must be a Christian

- Degree in education is preferred, but not required (a degree in early childhood or elementary education would be an asset)

- Minimum of 1 year experience teaching preschoolers and some administrative experience

- Must complete CPR and basic First Aid training each year

Principle Function:

The director is to supervise the entire operation of TGP program and works with TGP bookkeeper to maintain the financial affairs of the program.

Responsibilities:

1. To plan—with the TGP Supervisor, teachers, and TGP Committee—a program of education and care suit-ed to the needs and the ages of the children enrolled.

2. To supervise teachers in carrying out the daily program and to lead in regular evaluation of theprogram.

3. To meet, as needed, with other church program leaders who use the same facilities to coordinate the effective use of equipment and resources.

4. To recommend new staff members to TGP Committee (TGP director should not hire or supervise immediate family members—including parents, children, or siblings—for permanent positions).

5. To secure substitute help when necessary.

6. To schedule monthly staff meetings for planning and evaluating the program.

7. To coordinate the work of the teachers so the rooms are left in order each day.

8. To plan and create a healthy and safe environment, including scheduling activities to teach safety to the staff and children.

9. To prepare the program budget in consultation with the Minister to Children and the TGP Committee.

10. To administer the program within the limits of the budget, consulting regularly with the TGP Supervisor and/or the TGP Committee.

11. To maintain time and attendance records of the teaching staff for payroll purposes.

12. To collect tuition fees and keep accurate records of payment by each family.

13. To supervise children (in the absence of an assistant teacher) when the teacher must be out of the classroom for short intervals of time (i.e. conferring with parents).

14. To maintain inventory of all supplies, purchasing items as needed (within the established budget limitations).

15. To prepare newsletters, calendars, and other materials to be sent home with preschoolers.

16. To help plan and implement fundraisers (i.e. annual student pictures and any additional fundraisers deemed necessary) approved by the TGP Committee.

17. To develop and maintain a personal information file on each child, including medical and other data that will enable the teacher to best meet the needs of the child, and to confer with the other parents as needed.

18. To develop a personnel file on each staff member, including application, reference report, medical information, and evaluation forms.

19. To maintain professional standards when dealing with staff, children, and parents.

20. To maintain a spiritual ministry through the TGP program in keeping with the church’s purpose and goals for the program through consultation with the TGP Supervisor.

21. To update the parent handbook on an annual basis with the approval of the TGP Supervisor and the TGP Committee.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 27.5 per week
