Driver I

Job description and Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a variety of trucks and heavy equipment, including 18 wheelers, smaller trucks for delivering items to proper locations
• Load and unload materials or equipment onto trucks.
• Transport goods and materials to designated locations.
• Follow assigned routes and schedules for timely delivery.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating vehicles.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and report any maintenance issues. (i.e. tires, oil, fuel, lights, breaks, hoses, etc.)
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption.
• Disinfect truck before arriving to different locations on the farm
• Communicate with dispatchers or supervisors regarding any delays, accidents, or other incidents.
• Comply with all DOT safety rules and regulations, all company policies, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.
• Adhere to DOT regulations including accurately maintaining electronic driver log entries
• Assist with loading and unloading trailer as necessary
• Ensure secure load before movement
• Maintain proper documentation (i.e. equipment, time, trips, weight, etc.)
• Clean and wash truck as necessary
• Report truck and equipment maintenance issues to supervisor
• All other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Valid Class A CDL with 1 year verifiable satisfactory driving record
• Proven experience as a truck driver or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation, State and Federal Laws
• Ability to read and write legibly
• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate
• Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic math functions and skills
• Proven experience as a truck driver or in a similar role.
• 2 years of Driving Experience required
• Follow Department of Transportation, State and Federal laws, and company safety policies and programs
• Work in outside environment (including inclement weather) on a daily basis
• Must be comfortable sitting while driving and climbing in and out of truck cab throughout shift
• Ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency in the highest regard to quality and safety.

Job Description Summary:

Aviagen is currently looking for highly experienced Drivers. The drivers primarily responsibility will be to ensure exercising safe driving practices ensuring their safety and the safety of the public, responsible for operating commercial motor vehicle transporting in a safe and secure manner, responsible for compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) safety rules and regulations; and all company policies; and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.
