Job Description Summary:
The Vaccination Department is responsible for vaccinations, bird moves, male selection, grading, and cleaning and disinfecting all equipment involved to ensure bio-security. All duties should be performed with safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare being top priorities. This role plays a critical part in overall success of the farm operations within the vaccination crew. This crew has primary responsibilities for the animal care and welfare of the birds.Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to work with live animals and the associated environment
- Bird handling, will be required to collect birds for moving, weighing, and vaccinations
- Spreading of wood shavings
- Administer vaccines (Injection, spray, drinking water)
- Wash and disinfect all equipment
- Must follow Animal Care Standards, Animal Welfare Guidelines, and Bio-Security policies and procedures
- Must perform essential duties in a safe and efficient manner as trained
- Must be able to be around farm-related smells or odors and a loud/noisy environment
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- May work up to 6 days a week, including weekends and holidays
- Ensure the bio-security of farms, equipment, area buildings, vehicles, etc is a major duty
Qualifications:
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Ability to work well in teams
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions and perform simple tasks
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 75lbs
- Reliable mode of transportation
- Able to work in outside temperatures
- Valid driver's license is a MUST
- Current health card is a PLUS
