Position Summary:
The Director of Quality is a key leadership position with management and oversight responsibility of the Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), and Training Departments. The Director of Quality also serves as the focal point of contact with regulatory authorities and customers regarding quality, safety, airworthiness and regulatory matters.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic directions and leadership in shaping the quality and safety culture of the company
- Ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) and associated documentation are correct, complete and current, and acceptable to the regulatory authorities under whose approvals the company operates in
- Manage the Safety Management System (SMS), including leading the teams in identifying, reporting, analyzing and mitigating hazards and risks, and promoting safety through training and communication
- Assure compliance with regulatory and customers’ requirements, and with company’s policies and procedures through a comprehensive internal audits program
- Be the focal point for reports of incidents and accidents, lead investigations, formulate corrective and preventive measures, and communicate with customers, regulators and employees
- Oversee the quality control inspection program for aircraft maintenance, aircraft parts receiving and reporting, and interactions with customers and aviation authorities on regulatory and airworthiness requirements
- Ensure employees receive the training and maintain their currency required for their work
- Monitor, trend, analyze and report quality and safety performance
- Ensure all regulatory reporting, including but not limited to VDRP, SDR, SUP, Wastewater, OSHA 300 are complied with timely
Requirements:
Academic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Degree in Aeronautics, Aviation Maintenance, Management or Engineering, or related, preferred
- Airframe & Powerplant Certificate preferred
Languages
- Proficient in English
- Excellent writing skills
- Conversational Spanish a plus
Experience
- Experience in commercial aircraft maintenance and inspection, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management position
- Strong knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations 14 CFR Parts 5, 145, 121, 43 and 91
