Quality Engineer

Aviation Ground Equipment Corporation is seeking a Quality Engineer to work with all departments within the plant to determine if a part is compliant to specified drawings including component and assembly level. The Quality Engineer also assists the Quality Manager and the assembly department to identify, quarantine, sort any nonconforming product, and notify the customer or supplier when a nonconformance has been found. Other duties may be required.

AGEC is an industry leader in the manufacturing and supply of ground support equipment (GSE) to global commercial and military customers and end users. AGEC operates two divisions, our OEM division designs and produces world-class GSE supporting a wide range of military aircraft platforms, on behalf of defense prime contractors and Government program offices. Our Commercial Division distributes an excellent line card of ground support equipment, parts, and service to global MRO, airline operators, Government agencies, and aviation end users.

What you will do:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining documentation through the Document Control system, including various department’s work instructions.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving revised blueprints or drawings.
  • Support reduction in the cost of poor quality.
  • Assist and work with the Quality Manager and production to identify quarantine, sort any nonconforming product, and notify the customer or supplier when a nonconformance has been found.
  • Supervise and/or assist in training plant personnel on document updates and corrective actions.
  • Assist with scheduling and completing gauge calibrations.
  • Communicate and coordinate with various levels of the company about quality issues, as well as internal and external corrective actions (including leading root cause identification and effective corrective actions to eliminate the nonconformance).
  • Assist in reducing quality issues.
  • Complete in-process and final inspections of components and assemblies.
  • Assure the proper disposition of nonconforming components and/or assemblies per the appropriate blueprints or quality documentation (including product identification and segregation).
  • Maintain reports on results from various levels of inspection.
  • Complete and/or review First Article Inspection documentation as required.
  • Generate / update documentation once the final inspection is completed (Certificates of Conformance, logs, etc.).
  • Scan in completed documentation – ensure proper document control.
  • Read and utilize quality system procedures, work instructions, and reports.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Two to four years of experience in Quality Manufacturing (Supplier Quality Preferred).
  • Strong understanding of ISO9001, AS9100, and AS9102.
  • Experience in Supplier Development/Auditing.
  • Generating/Presenting Supplier Scorecards, preferred.
  • Strong skills with various programs including MS office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
  • Experience evaluating new potential suppliers.
  • Report on the performance of suppliers.
  • Complete audits of suppliers (including initial assessments and corrective action effectiveness)
  • Coordinate corrective actions with suppliers and work with the suppliers to complete the corrective actions.
  • Assure the proper disposition of nonconforming supplier components and/or assemblies per the appropriate blueprints or quality documentation (including supplier communication).
  • Complete documentation and inspection of parts for spare orders as needed.
  • Local travel 5%
  • Must be a US Citizen.
