Position Purpose

The Aviation Maintenance Technician Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all facets of the Aviation Maintenance Technician program, ensuring its smooth operation and alignment with industry standards. This role involves supervising faculty and staff, providing guidance and support to enhance educational outcomes, and implementing best practices in curriculum delivery. Additionally, the coordinator performs essential administrative functions, managing daily operations to foster a productive learning environment for students and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Duties :

  • Oversee and streamline daily operations of the Aviation Maintenance Technician program, ensuring efficient workflow and resource allocation.
  • Mentor and evaluate faculty and staff to foster a high-quality learning environment and support their professional development.
  • Ensure that all program activities comply with relevant aviation regulations and accreditation standards, maintaining the integrity and credibility of the program.

This position is responsible for aligning the Aviation Maintenance Technician program with industry standards and organizational goals to effectively deliver high-quality education and training, thereby enhancing the institution's reputation and contributing to the growth of skilled professionals in the aviation field.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the Aviation Maintenance Technician program, including daily operations, curriculum development, course scheduling, and supervision of faculty and staff to ensure efficient program management.
  • Collaborate with Campus and Home Office Education Directors to develop and update course materials, monitor program curricula for compliance with the latest syllabi and teaching methods, and ensure adherence to Department of Education and accrediting agency standards.
  • Conduct regular faculty evaluations, facilitate meetings, and assist in staff management, including interviewing, hiring, and administering disciplinary actions as needed. Act as a substitute instructor to maintain continuity of instruction.
  • Provide academic advising to students on progress, attendance, and behavioral issues, including supporting “at risk” students. Monitor student performance on projects and maintain documentation in Campus Nexus for attendance and other statuses.
  • Ensure all necessary supplies, tools, and equipment are inventoried, maintained, and purchased when required for class projects. Assist in the design and development of training aids and materials tailored to the program’s curriculum needs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other workplace safety regulations, maintaining a safe learning environment for students and staff.
  • Participate in the formal and informal mentoring of new employees, fostering a positive work culture that supports professional growth and enhances the educational experience for students.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor to support the overall success of the program and institution.
  • Required Qualifications

  • FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • An educational background equal to or exceeding the maximum credential offered by the school. An approval may be made in compliance with the accreditation agencies and AIM’s requirements.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related practical work experience in the aviation maintenance field, specifically repair and installation.
  • At least three (3) years teaching experience
  • Appropriate educational administration experience and competence necessary to lead and manage the program.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism.
  • Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of regular work shifts, including evenings and / or weekends as necessary or as requested by Supervisor.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally or overnight for business purposes.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of teaching at an AIM campus
  • CampusNexus experience
  • Schedule : Full time evening position : Monday - Thursday 2 : 30 p.m. - 11 : 30 p.m. and Friday 11 : 00 a.m. -7 : 00 p.m.
