Description
The AC-130J Contract Instructor (CI) SMA is responsible for providing Aircraft Systems/Operational Procedures instruction in the classroom, simulator, and/or practical environments. Assist in development of curriculum for new type courses as required. May provide additional special services such as courseware review and other additional administrative duties such as publications, safety, quality audits, and other duties as maybe assigned.
- AC-130J CI SMA will provide formal aircrew academic and simulator training to conduct close air support, air interdiction, and armed reconnaissance.
- Provide academic and simulator refresher training to qualified AC-130J aircrew members.
- Assist in the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process in designing, developing of and ensuring all AC130J courseware is correctly applied.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited college.
- Current as a SMA in the AC-130J within the previous two years; or within the previous 8 years if the candidate has performed 8 years of military operational flying duty at the time of hire, and with at least two years or 200 hours experience as an instructor in the AC-130 H/U/W/J.
- Waivers are possible for candidates not meeting the above requirements, but have prior AC-130 experience and/or have experience as an AC-130J Contract Instructor.
- Selected candidate must be able to obtain a minimum of an active SECRET clearance, will be subject to a government security investigation, and must meet eligibility requirements, including US Citizenship, for access to classified information and Communications Security (COMSEC) material.
