Primary Mission:
Deliver exceptional customer service by preparing and serving beverages, assisting guests in the gift shop, and operating the cashier station efficiently. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment that ensures guest satisfaction while supporting the overall operations of the canteen.
SCOPE OF WORK TEAM
- Reports to: Canteen Manager
- Supports: Canteen Operations
RESPONSIBILITIES
Guest Interaction and Service
- Greet all guests warmly and ensure prompt, courteous service across all areas (café, gift shop, cashier).
- Provide information about menu items, gift shop merchandise, and promotions.
- Suggest additional products or services using "Suggestive Selling" techniques.
Barista Duties
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages to company standards.
- Ensure all ingredients are stocked and workstations are clean, organized, and hygienic.
- Maintain knowledge of drink preparation techniques and educate guests on available beverages.
Gift Shop Duties
- Assist customers with purchases, provide information about products, and maintain the display area to ensure it is inviting and fully stocked.
- Receive and organize inventory, restock items as needed, and ensure pricing accuracy.
- Monitor trends in customer preferences to recommend new stock or merchandising strategies.
Cashier Duties
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment, following proper procedures.
- Maintain a balanced cash drawer, reconcile sales at the end of shifts, and report discrepancies to management.
General Duties
- Monitor cleanliness and ensure all equipment is in working condition. Report maintenance issues as needed.
- Provide assistance during peak hours, special events, or promotions.
- Support the Canteen Manager with special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
Prior Experience:
- 3 months to 1 year in a customer-facing or service role (e.g., barista, cashier, or retail assistant).
IT Expertise:
- Basic knowledge of POS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Subject Expertise:
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage and communicate effectively with guests.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and maintain attention to detail.
- Energetic, outgoing, and team-oriented attitude.
OTHER EXPECTATIONS

- Demonstrate a commitment to safety, security, and confidentiality.
- Be flexible with working hours, understanding that operations may require weekends, holidays, and shifts outside regular business hours.
